As part of our ongoing Madeline obsession, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to attend a local community theatre play, Madeline and the Bad Hat. This is a touring show by ArtsPower so in the event it is coming to a theatre near you, I thought I would pass this on to fellow FIAR Madeline rowers and Madeline fans.
Even if it isn’t coming to your town, check out the ArtsPower website. They have video clips of the Madeline performance, a “study buddy” guide, and photos. Their website lists performances in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Additionally, it appears that theatres in other locales bring in performances and can link to the ArtsPower website, as my local community theatre did here in Virginia.
ArtsPower also offers other performances of wonderful children’s books, including Anne of Green Gables, The Rainbow Fish, Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great, and a play based on the life and books of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
The Madeline and the Bad Hat performance was very well done and at just under an hour, it was the perfect length for young children.
After the performance, it was an adorable sight to see all the little girls, clutching their Madeline dolls as they filed out of theatre. And even a little boy hugging a Genevieve stuffed dog.
