Cool Experiments: Balloons and Fire

Can you pop a balloon with fire? Of course! Can you NOT pop a balloon, even though it is nearly touching fire? Yes! We love cool experiments and this one is so easy to set up.
Watch this quick video to see what supplies you will need and what happens when you hold an air-filled balloon over a candle flame, followed by a water-filled balloon.
Did you see that? The balloon with air popped fairly quickly but the balloon with water did not.
Adult supervision is required for this experiment.
The Science Behind It
The water in the balloon absorbs the heat given from the lit candle, so the balloon does not burn and then pop. Air cannot absorb the heat, so the balloon itself literally takes the heat, and pops.
