A note about skipping chapters. I don’t post on every chapter because we don’t always do something really interesting, but we do read each chapter aloud and/or listen to the audio version, read by Jim Weiss and do some map work.

I agree with you… we did read each chapter and do the mapping activities, but not every chapter warranted a full blown side trip with activities, etc… I do love Story of The World, and now that we are nearly done with Volume 1, we look back at our notebooks and realize what a FIRM grasp of history the children are getting!
We also don’t do all the activities every week. We only choose the ones we may enjoy and skip the rest. We do the mapping, coloring (though this is getting old after 3 pages), and the chapter.
Love story of the world! Tried others, but always come back to SOW. We’re starting book 3 this year. Great posts on your activities!
We have loved SOTW, too! We’re almost finished vol2 and hoping to start vol3 soon;) We definitely pick and choose the activities we will complete each week… and definitely some weeks it’s only map, coloring page, narrations and some library books;)
